As a concerned resident near the derelict football pitch at Rosehill Park and the proposal to use the site to build a school, I wish to make several points.

My concerns, and that of others, is the history of the park and what uses can be made of it and the permanent buildings has not been mentioned.

Why was the all-weather pitch allowed to get into such a state of repair when an all-weather pitch has recently been built in Sutton Common Road?

I am concerned the disused pitch will not be the only part of the park to be used as it will need a service road plus a bigger footprint than the pitch.

How will this affect the tennis courts and the bowling green, all regularly used by Sutton residents?

Why do the views of residents living around Sutton Hospital seem to have some voice in the decision making when, to my knowledge, none of the local residents in the north of the borough have not been asked their opinion?

I realise and advocate new schools for the ever-growing Sutton population, but to what cost?

I am constantly reading that the borough’s local children desperately need additional senior school places – then why is this always followed by excellent train, bus and possible tram facilities being attractive in using this location.

I thought the schools were needed for local children not children from other boroughs.

I also notice Sutton United wish to extend their facilities because “Saturday morning football is the staple for many local families, so I want to make sure we have the best possible local facilities”.

I find it beggars belief that the council has let the site at Rosehill Park become derelict.

I totally agree that the borough needs sufficient schools for its growing population but please could we have a little more input in the decision-making? We, the residents, do actually pay the final bill and the inconsistency in what we are currently being fed is greatly disturbing.
