Sutton has very good adult education services at Scola, but they would be so much better if they could be accessed by everyone.

At the moment, many physically disabled people are effectively excluded because of the lack of hoists needed for them to access the courses in Scola’s buildings.

Could the council not consider fitting an overhead hoist in some of its public buildings? Or, at the very least, provide a manual hoist?

There would be very little expense involved but it would make life so much easier for many disabled peoplewho cannotwalk and who need a hoist for their health and care needs.

The simple provision of a hoist would make Scola courses accessible.

My son has severe cerebral palsy, and he would love to do a course at Scola next year but it is not an option for him without a hoist.

That is so disappointing, especiallywhen the council could very easily remedy this.

My son would love to improve his reading so that he can develop his interest in the arts. He wants to make a contribution to society.

I hope the council will recognise that many disabled people are being denied the opportunity to develop their potential and to benefit their community.
