Regarding Christopher Roberts’ letter enthusing over the waste management plant to be built in Beddington Lane (Energy recovery facility is a good deal for us, June 4).

In his enthusiasm, Mr Roberts omits the fact that several hundred trucks carrying waste will be trundling along a very narrow Beddington Lane emitting all kinds of toxic fumes.

How will this be an asset in a supposedly “greener, cleaner” borough? Will the health issues be compensated by saving a couple of quid on electricity bills?
