I am writing in response to the latest article about St Helier Hospital, pictured, (Hospital supremo’s financial challenge May 28).

To meet financial challenges, the hospital trust CEO says car park charges may have to be increased.

Liberal Democrat MP Tom Brake opposes a rise but does not say where the money the trust says it needs should come from.

Newly-elected Conservative MP Paul Scully, apparently not yet clear that his party is in power and so responsible, continues to run his petition demanding that accident and emergency, maternity and other services threatened with closure and relocation should remain at St Helier Hospital.

Neither Tom’s nor Paul’s, former coalition parties seem willing to apologise for breaking their promise to fund a £219m upgrade for the hospital.
