Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from Worcester Park raised over £600 for St Raphael’s Hospice by carol singing at Worcester Park and Stoneleigh stations before Christmas.

They braved the snow and bitter cold to put a smile on commuters faces as they arrived home on two evenings in December and presented a cheque for £604 to a representative of St Raphael’s last weekend.

"Only by contributions like this does St Raphael’s exist" stated their grateful representative, John Sweet.

Lucy, a Brownie aged nine, said: "It was very cold but fun – Rudolf the red nosed Reindeer was my favourite song."

"We have heard from other commuters, even those who didn’t get off at those stops, how it put a smile on people’s faces in the crowded trains and even started conversations." said Christine Wicks, Brownie Leader of the 8th Worcester Park Brownies.

"St Raphael’s do an amazing job and I think we should make this an annual fundraising event for them" said Linda Scrine, Brownie Leader of the 2nd Worcester Park Brownies, who organized the event.
