Communities of Christians lived in the Middle East for 2000 years until recent unrest led to attacks on their houses and families and caused them to flee to refugee camps and as far away as the UK. Two of the leading churchmen from Egypt and Syria are coming to Cheam to speak about the grim situation in their homelands and what the impact will be for us in the UK.
Bishop Angaelos of the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church is an internationally-known speaker on the plight of Egyptian minorities during the recent upheavals in his homeland, and joining him on the platform is the Revd Nadim Nassar, a Syrian scholar and preacher who heads the Awareness Foundation in London, which promotes peace and understanding between the peoples of east and west.
The event is open to the public and is at 7pm on Wednesday 2 April at St Andrew’s Church in Northey Avenue, Cheam: information and tickets from 020 8642 5000.
