A group of 10 students from Sutton Grammar School have won the local Sutton and Merton Young Enterprise finals, beating off competition from several other schools to claim the prestigious prize, including the runners up from Nonsuch Grammar School. But, it does not stop there as this Friday the South London Finals take place and the competition is even fiercer.

The community has seen the Reflex Enterprise Team grow and develop over the course of the year, from their humble beginnings to eventual winners, starting off selling their innovative “Unwind” product in St. Nicholas Centre before Christmas with temporary packaging to gain the capital they needed, even holding a Multicultural Evening at Sutton’s Holiday Inn for over 150 guests. Indeed, the young Lord Sugar’s won a record breaking two awards at the Spittlefields Trade Fair, including best overall company, and have won the most innovative product award four times at different trade fairs across London.

Their final victory came this week, with the ecstatic students, aged 16-17, planning for the future ahead of them. The judging panel, including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sutton, came to a unanimous decision regarding the ultimate winners, and seemed suitably impressed.

Business adviser Tim Davies stated that “It’s been a tough year, many ups and downs and lots of dedication to the company, but we’ve done it, and we’re going to win again next week!” Indeed, managing director Amaan Naeem concurred with similar sentiments: “we’re so happy to go through, the competition was so tough this year, but we’ve done it, here’s to hoping we can win next week.”

It is great to see young talent flourishing, not only within the community but actively helping it, and we wish the Reflex Enterprise Team all the best in the South London Finals next week, something a team from Sutton has not achieved for many years.
