A police helicopter and police dogs were out searching last night after a 10-year-old boy was reported missing.

The extensive police search was called off just before 8am this morning after police received a call that the boy had been located safe and well at an address in Brighton Road - close to his home.

The boy is believed to have been spotted by residents who knew him.

The father of the boy came in to Sutton Police Station at 12.30 am this morning to report his 10-year-old son as missing.

He was last seen in school uniform playing with his friends on the Benhill Estate at 8.30pm yesterday evening and his father had been out looking for him since then.

He was checked over by ambulance staff and did not require hospital treatment. His parents were informed immediately.
