Former Greenacre School pupil, Elizabeth Donkin of Banstead, has just heard that she is the recipient of this year's 2014 prize for the Best Materials Project awarded by the University of Southampton's Engineering materials group on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Braisiers for her project "The Effects of Chemical Composition and Annealing Temperature on the Shape Memory Thin Films." The prize is worth £250 and there is a medal which will be handed over publicly to Elizabeth at the Annual Postgraduate Conference on 22nd October in Southampton.
Elizabeth left Greenacre, where she had been Head Girl, in 2011 and went to Southampton University to study Aerospace Engineering. Having completed her third year she moved to Derby in June of this year to begin a year's internship at Rolls Royce and will return to Southampton in September 2015 to complete her fourth year of her MEng Degree.
