Actor and director Richard Wilson will make a triumphant return to the Rose Theatre next month, for the first time since directing smash hit play Smack Family Robinson.
The start of One Foot in the Grave and Merlin will be in conversation with the Rose’s artistic director Stephen Unwin, as part of the venue’s popular Time To Talk series.
The Scottish star, who came to prominence as the curmudgeonly Victor Meldrew in popular BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave, will be discussing his life and career on Monday, September 9.
The discussion is almost certain to turn to Smack Family Robinson, the Richard Bean comedy about a drug dealing family from Kingston starring Denise Welch and Keith Allen, which Wilson directed.
Smack Family Robinson, directed by Richard Wilson, was a box office smash for the Rose Theatre
The critically-acclaimed play set a new box office record for weekend takings at the Rose, beating a record previously held by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, starring Dame Judi Dench.
